Second Call for Papers
FIT Sixth Asian Translators' Forum:
Translation and Intercultural Communication: Past, Present and Future
6~8 November, 2010
Translation has played an increasingly important role in the development of human
history. In the present context of globalization, we are happy to announce that the FIT
Sixth Asian Translators' Forum will be held in Macao, China, in November, 2010.
The FIT Asian Translators' Forum is an international conference and a significant event
in the Asian regional translation community. It is held every three years under the
auspices of the International Translators' Federation (FIT). The first forum was held in
Beijing (1995), the second in Seoul, South Korea (1998), the third in Hong Kong (2001),
the fourth in Beijing (2004) and the fifth in Bogor, Indonesia (2007).
The FIT Sixth Asian Translators' Forum, co-organized by the Federation of Translators
and Interpreters of Macau and the University of Macau, will be hosted by and at the
University of Macau, from 6th to 8th November, 2010. It is estimated that about 250
participants from all over the world will attend the Forum.

(1) Translation and cross-cultural studies;
(2) Translation history and culture in Macao and Asia;
(3) Tourism translation and media translation;
(4) Diplomatic translation/interpreting;
(5) Business and legal translation/interpreting;
(6) Literary translation;
(7) Translation teaching and translator training;
(8) Translation technology and publishing

SUBMISSION DETAILS
The Organizing Committee invites submissions of abstracts on any of the forum themes,
or on any translation-related issues. Abstracts should be approximately 300 words in
one of the three working languages: English, Chinese and Portuguese. All abstracts
should include the following information:
The title of your paper;
• Your name, title and affiliation;
• Your mailing and email addresses and contact number(s);
• All abstracts should be sent to atf2010papers@gmail.com in word2003/2007 format.
Selected papers will be published in the Sixth Asian Translator’ Forum Proceedings after the conference.
KEY DATES
Deadline for submission of abstracts: March 31, 2010;
Notification of acceptance: May 31, 2010;
Deadline for submission of final papers: September 30, 2010;
Payment of early registration: June 30, 2010;
Payment of late registration: on and after July 1, 2010.
REGISTRATION FEES
Early bird registration (before June 30, 2010): 200 USD/person;
Late registration (on and after July 1, 2010): 250 USD/person.
